He followed Mariah into the gym and marveled how her dress seemed to sparkle under the lights of the gym it almost made it look she was some kind of angel. He walked with her to their table, putting the menus at there seat Liam led Mariah out on to the dance floor and wrapped his arms around her as a slow song hit.

She smiled and wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. "I love you." she said with a smile and kissed him again. They danced a few dances and soon their food arrived. Mariah was quiet during the meal and ki d of starred off into space. She asked him to dance again and dodged big goofy grins from Melanie and eye rolls from Britney. Everyone else for the most part paid them no attention. A few would wink at her and one whistled but darted the other way when they saw Liam. After a few songs, Mariah looked in his eyes. She couldnt take it anymore. "I need to talk to you about something...." she said. Her expression changed then. She looked sad and worried. "Can we go outside?"

He really did not venture that far from Mariah, as they dance there was an undeniable electricity between the two of them that everybody could see. As they ate their meal Liam rested his foot next to hers underneath the table. When she told him that she needed to tell her something he nodded " ... sure" and took her hand and walked outside. He sat down with her on a bench a small way away from the school so that they could be heard over the music.

*she took his hand and seemed like she was in between wanting to smile or cry. "So Friday at school....I found out that a sxholarship i applied for last summer....one i totally forgot about....i mean it was before i met you even...." she took a breath knoeing she was getting nervous and emotional. "I got it. It is almost impossible but i got it."

She would be able to tell that he was a little surprised but also very happy for her " congratulations .... " he lent over and gave her a peck on the cheek and held till she was no longer nervous and considering he said that he had no real plans of his own once school was over he asked " .... so do you want me to follow you wherever you go?"

She smiled at the idea. "The thing is....I go THIS year....for the remainder of the year. Sort of a learning abroad program and...." she took a breath feeling that nervousness again. "It is in Paris. I would leave in two weeks and be back in the summer before senior year...."she shook her head and looked in his eyes. "Im not going to go. I cant go. I cant leave you."

The look he gave her said that He thought she should go but he also didn't want her to go, so he just held her for awhile. He did not kiss her anything else, he just held her. "what ever decision you make i'll support you and remember i'll always be yours i love you, make sure you wont regret it with this ... years later" he held his hand over her heart.

It was then the announcements for king and queen could be heard. Britney won the vote of course especially with Mariah pulling herself from the running. Then Joel made king. Hearing this Mariah just laid her head on his shoulder. "I dont know what to do. The idea of being away from you breaks me." she began to tear up now. "But i also know that this is an opportunity i may never have again. To go to paris. Really focus on my art. It is a dream." she took his hand. "But you are a dream too....the best dream come true."

he continued to hold her and did not say a word for a while " sometimes it feels i was meant to come here" he gently ran his fingers through her hair and listened as the king and queen where announced.

Mariah kissed his cheek and rested her head on him. Tears were falling now and she looked from him to the school. "Want to go somewhere?" there was a big part of her that didnt want to go inside because sge couldnt stand the smug looks britney abd joel would likely give her.

"Britney...." she shrugged. It was Britney she wanted to avoid. "I dont care where we go as long as im with you." she looked in his eyes. "I cant believe im even considering leaving in two weeks. Makes me realize just how little time we could have together." she rested her head against his. "What is going to happen to us?" i dont expect you to just wait around for me. I know long distance doesnt work for everyone." she knew this was not the conversation she wanted to have but she had to.

He raised an eyebrow when she mentioned Britney "What do you mean by Britney?" He kissed her on the forehead and thought for a few moments "I know i don't make much at work but maybe i'll make enough at work to by a plane ticket?" He kissed her on the lips and then stood up and held out his hand as gracefully as possible to her and as he helped her to her feet he spun her slowly just enough to make her dress furl out slightly as she moved in a circle.

He couldn't help but laugh as he remembered the last time he was at Mel's " did she tell you I passed out naked on her front lawn when you were in hospital?" He scooped her up into his arms and carried her to the car, he opened the door and set her down on the passenger seat and kissed her, he then got into the car and drove to Melanie's.
