In the pit of his stomach Liam knew that he had to get back to the hospital, but first thing was first a hot shower and clothes. However thrilling public nudity might be clothes where what he wanted. When he got back to the farm he was not in trouble for staying out all night this time, though Aunt Eva was not impressed with how he had left his date. Uncle Ben said that she would get over this in time for the next boneheaded thing that he would do and added if he could keep them surprised and not do the same bonehead things.
He was in the shower for what seemed like an hour to him. When he got out of the shower he dressed in jeans, a grey t-shirt and sneakers, he did not bother about underwear. He had to get back to the hospital but that could wait for a little while.

*The day went by slowly but when the doctor came in later in the afternoon, he was surprised by the levels and the bloodwork and other tests. Mariah was responding very well to the medications and the blood transfusion she had received. Upon inspecting the wounds, he and the nurses were surprised to see that many of them were already beginning to show signs of healing. Usually after a day the wounds still looked pretty bad for most patients, but she was looking more like a patient who had been there for several days. Mariah was still unconscious and the doctor would soon take her off of the medication that was helping to keep her sleeping. So when Penny went to the hospital to check on Mariah, she was happy to hear that Mariah would likely wake within the next day or so, if everything was going well. She texted Liam the news on what was happening to Mariah, along with a "oh, don't forget your clothes when you visit" as a joke. By dinner time, Penny and Mariah's grandmother were thinking about heading out for the night.*

He smiled as he received the text message and then texted his own joke 'if i'm dressed then I might be able to perform a striptease for Mya when she wakes up'
Liam left the farm before diner not bothering to ask Uncle Ben for a ride, it was after diner when he finally arrived at the hospital, the Candy Strippers where disappointed when they saw that Liam was dressed

*Mariah's grandmother was just leaving as Liam came in. "Oh...nice to see you again boy. She seems to be doing a little better. The doctor said she should be waking up in a day or so. Thank you again. For all of your help. Oh, and when you go to school tomorrow, will you bring Mariah's school work and drop it by here? That way she can catch up eventually." Her grandmother smiled, though worry still was present on her face. She left and it was just Mariah and Liam.*

He wondered where Penny was and how far he should take the joke he texted, I mean the entire female population had seen him naked right? he followed her to Mariah's room

*Penny went inside the room and squeezed Mariah's hand* "No stripteases when she wakes Liam. It might send her into a shock." She joked and then walked for the door. "I hope she recovers okay. She's my best friend..." She looked from Mariah to Liam. "Goodnight. See you at school."
*After Penny left, a nurse came in to check on Mariah and then left too. Liam and Mariah were now alone, the only sound was the tv that had been left on for noise, and the beeping of the monitors. Twenty minutes passed and Mariah's hand began to twitch lightly.*

Liam sat on the floor and lay his head against Mariah's bed within easy reach of her hand, he wouldn't have minded performing for Mariah but Penny was right, maybe any striptease would have to wait. All he knew was that all she had to do was ask. sitting on the floor beside her bed he felt like he was home. He thought to himself when are you going to wake up Mariah? he thought to himself.

A groan came from Mariah. Her hand moved slightly again, brushing on Liam. In Mariahs mind, it was a constant dream. Mostly pleasant with memories of her childhood. Suddenly now, if was changing. She was reliving the accident. The fear. The pain. She saw the masks of the men in the truck. She saw he's mother standing at the foot of the crashed car. She looked in and whispered to Mariah. Its ok daughter. You can open your eyes now. Your journey is just beginning. Open your eyes Mariah..." Mariah opened her eyes and let out a whimpered pain filled cry.

*Liam flinched as he felt Mariah's hand brush over his head. At first he didn't realized what she did. When he finally realized what she did he looked up at her and thought 'do that again come on do that again' when he heard her cry he sprung to his feet and took several steps away from her bed 'ahhh.... NURSE!!!'

*The nurse came rushing in, followed by a few others. The doctor came a minute or so later. They were all talking to Mariah and checking vitals. The doctor ordered pain medication for Mariah immediately and after all was calmed down, all but one doctor and nurse remained. "Mariah? Can you talk? Do you know where you are?" The doctor asked as he examined her. She nodded softly and tried to talk but only a small whimper came out. "It's okay, it's okay. Just try to relax now. We're glad to see you awake." The doctor finished and then looked at Liam. "Good thing you were here. Mariah turned her head to look at Liam and her eyes locked onto his as the doctor gave her the medicine through iv. She reached out her hand to him.*

Liam did not look at any of the nurses or the doctor, when Mariah reached out to him he wrapped both his hands around hers. Starring into her eyes he whispered 'you know this was a pretty extreme way to miss out on dinner' he said in a joking tone of voice 'granted things where a little unconventional. but sometimes unconventional can be kind of fun' he was rambling talking to soothe both of them 'I mean we could try that again ... or something slightly different to that ... or possibly something else somewhere else...' this probably was not the time to ask her out on a date but he could not hold the words back ' i mean the point is ... i'll be in your life for as long as you'll have me in it'

*Mariah smiled but did not speak. She just squeezed his hand lightly. It was hard for her to speak with the feeding tube in her throat anyway. A few minutes later Mariah's grandmother came running in. "Mariah? Oh Mariah you're awake!" The doctor smiled and stepped aside so the grandmother could come through. "It's rather remarkable actually. I hadn't figured on her waking this soon. She seems to be doing very well. She certainly does not look like someone who has been in such a bad accident. She still needs to rest though. The more rest and calmness she has the better." After a few minutes, the nurse and doctor asked all visitors to step aside while they pulled the feeding tube out of Mariah and changed her i.v. Mariah closed her eyes and couldn't help but gag as the tube was retrieved from her throat and the breathing tube taken out of her nose. She began to cough lightly and then took a drink, something that felt so good after not having a drink in a couple of days.*

The whole time he did not let go of her hand or staring into her eyes. Staring into his eyes Mariah would be able to see few things someone who wanted her, someone who was scared and the slightest hint of something else possibly animalistic and primal.
When the doctors went to remove her feeding tube Liam didn't budge it took a stern look from a matronly before he finally moved. Liam silently hoped that Mariah would not find out to much about how he had helped, though considering Penny was her best friend he quickly assumed that she would find out all the details pretty soon, though perhaps they will keep the details from her Grandma.
When the doctors finally left the room Liam sat back down on the floor beside her bed. He thought about using his shirt for a pillow but Penny's advice from earlier 'No stripteases when she wakes Liam. It might send her into a shock' came to mind. He thought that maybe he should wait at least till she was out of hospital before giving her a lap dance.

*Finally, after about half an hour and a large glass of ice water later, Mariah spoke. "H...how long h...have I been...here?" It had felt like eternity since she had been awake. She now knew she was unconscious and all she experienced between the accident and now was a dream in her mind. She had not let go of Liam's hand and finally realized it. She let go slowly and looked at him. "You are...here..." she said with a weakened smile. "I can't believe...you are here."

"Since last night"
Mariah looked hell which was only to be expected considering that everything that she had been through. He knew that Penny and her Grandma would be bringing her some personal items but that she needed a present. Something to make her feel beautiful, something so that she would know how he felt about her.
"Didn't we have a date?..." he paused for a moment and reached up and brushed a stray hair from her face " we might have to rain check ..." he smiled and then with a playful yet slightly teasing tone of voice added " and if you play your cards right I might even wear the outfit I was planning to wear for you last night'
