"A date?" *She looked confused but then smiled.* "We didn't have a date. You haven't asked me..." she said and then she looked from him to his grandma, who was filling out some paperwork. Penny showed up then and gave Mariah a huge hug.* "Oh Mariah! I'm so glad you're awake and okay! You had me so scared." Mariah hugged her back and smiled. "Good to see you too Pen" Penny then noticed that Liam was there and sitting very close to Mariah. "He's been by your side almost constantly." She whispered to Mariah, hopefully so Liam wouldn't hear. "He even gave blood for you." Mariah's eyes widened slightly as she looked from Penny to Liam. Her eyes filled with tears as she looked into his eyes. "Really?"

Liam pretended that he did not hear the two girls talking. Thinking it best to leave the two friends he stood up he took Mariah's hand in his and then kissed it and then lent down and kissed her lips. Kissing her on the lips might not have been a good idea considering last time she almost slapped him but considering she had just got out of surgery last night he thought there was less of a risk.

*Mariah closed her eyes as he kissed her and she felt her heart beat faster. It was only for a second and she felt herself blush as he walked away. Mariah's grandmother had seen and raised a brow and gave a smirk. She left the room shortly after to return the paperwork and so it was only Mariah and Penny. Penny let Mariah in on all that had happened. Britney weasling her way into a date with Liam. Joel getting his leg snapped and that he wasn't talking about how it happened. Liam leaving Britney and running through town naked the second he heard of the accident. Him donating blood. And him not leaving Mariah's side if he could help it. She also told Mariah about the doctors thinking Mariah's case was miraculous. That she survived at all but especially that she was healing so well and quickly.*

Considering that she missed out on having dinner with him the previous night Liam had an idea but it would take a while to get everything that he needed. He half walked half ran to the farm and immediately went to the kitchen. Aunt Eva was in the kitchen and explained that the girl he wanted at the diner last night was in the accident last night, with that he took some of the left over fried chicken from last night put it in a plastic container and then headed back out.
He managed to get back to town before the stores where closing he found a store that sold a gemstones and brought an Alexandrite pendant on a leather cord, the lady who sold him the pendant explained that the stone signified Undying devotion.
He made it back to the hospital just around dinner time, stopping by a vending machine with the last of his money he brought two sodas and some chocolate.
“well considering you missed out on dinner last night, I thought I would bring it to you” with his back turned to Mariah’s Grandma he signed to Mariah and Penny ‘I’ll only strip if Mariah asks me to’ and the gave the two of them a playful yet joking grin, He set the food down on Mariah’s table and then handed her a small box containing the Alexandrite pendant that he brought earlier.

*Mariah gasped as she saw the food and the beautiful necklace. Her grandma and Penny decided now was a good time for them to get some dinner and leave the two of them alone. Mariah looked at Liam, tears definitely in her eyes. "This is beautiful. It's all too much,you didn't have to do all this."

Looking at the pendant then to Mariah 'mind if i help you with the ...' not waiting to finish the sentence he took necklace from the box and helped her put it on. 'Well nothing is to good for you' he smiled as he opened the chicken 'and considering that you did not make it to collect your dinner with me last night, I thought that i should bring dinner to you' he opened both the cans of soda 'and might i say Miss Mya you do look rather fetching in that gown'

*Mariah lifted herself up slightly, though she was still very sore and weak and bit her lip in pain. She looked at the necklace after he put it on her.* This is beautiful" She said and then took his hand. "Oh I'm sure I'm looking so fabulous in this" She joked and then her face got more serious. "I kind of set you up...leaving you to dinner with whoever would show up. I figured it would be Britney. I'm sorry. I just figured that if we had a dinner date, I wanted you to ask me." *She coughed slightly, her throat still hoarse and sore.* "Did you really donate blood? And did you really stay with me here? Why?"

Liam moved a chair and placed it next to the bed, sat down and held her hand "I'll let you in on a little secret..." He gave flashed her a cheeky "I'm not sure if your where looking, but I kind of enjoyed our little run at the bonfire" He brought her hand up to his lips and kissed it. "As for Miss Silicone Titts ... uh i mean Brittney did not get a chance of my .. er .. lack of wardrobe. And your right a date is when a boy asks out the object of his desire, though I wanted to be your naked dinner date. Why do you think I told you the password?" He opened the soda cans and poured each of them into a glass. "I did donate blood for you, to be honest I'm not entirely sure why I stayed the night with you. Something in the pit of my stomach told you that you needed me and being anywhere else wasn't as important being here for you"

"Well..." She said, taking a deep breath to rid the urge to start crying again. "Thank you. I...I don't know what I'd do without you...your help." She smiled and took his hand. She took a sip of the drink and tried to eat some mashed potatoes but that was the extant of her appetite. She laid her head back on the pillow and she started to feel herself doze off. The medication, with their strong doses, was making her drowsy.*

Mariah probably was not going to be that much of a conversationalist tonight Liam thought to himself, she was probably on so many different medications some of the stoners he knew would be a little jealous of her. He moved the table away leaving it easily within Mariah's reach, kissed her hand and let her drift off to sleep. He thought about going home but he knew could leave her, though he knew he would have to go to school tomorrow. He softly kissed her on the forehead and then sat down on the floor and rested his head on the side of her bed.

*Mariah drifted off to sleep and at first her dreams were normal. She was at school in one. Then she was performing in cheerleading practice in another. Then there was one where her and Liam were on their first date...oh how romantic it was. There was a beach and she could actually feel the sand under her feet she thought. Then there came the not so nice dream. She was coming home and all was dark, like normal. Grandma likely at bingo. She opened the door of the house and she felt a hand come across her mouth and she was grabbed from behind. She couldn't scream, couldn't move. She felt a hot breath on her neck and then something sharp grazing her neck. It was then that she woke up and she gasped as she came out of it. She tried to sit up but winced in pain as she did. It was all a dream...she just kept trying to tell herself that.*

Liam was sitting on the floor beside Mariah's bed half asleep and failed to notice that she was having a bad dream. Hearing her wince in pain still half asleep Liam looked up from his position on the floor he asked "everything ok?"

"Yeah...yeah..." She took a sip of water and then took a deep breath. "I'm okay. Just a bad dream. You're still here?" She looked at the time, she had been asleep at least a couple of hours.*

He thought for a moment, even though he still had that feeling that he needed to be by her side he realized that now Mariah was out of her coma it might be a little strange that he was still in her room at this time night. Sure they have had one what could possibly considered a date. But he still barely knew her so this still was very heavily weighted in the favor of strange behavior. But he had heard that love makes you do strange things. But the question was did he really love her?
"um .... yeah .... I'll go if you want me to"

*She liked him being here. She felt...well...protected with him near. She didn't want to go right out and say that though* "Only if you want to...."
A couple of days passed and each time she saw Liam, she couldn't help but smile. She began to miss him as he went off to school each day, but he returned every afternoon with her homework. Soon she was well enough to go home and was discharged on a Wednesday, where she spent the rest of the day resting in her own bed and reflecting on all that had happened. She would try to go to school tomorrow, even though she wondered how well it would go with her walking around on crutches.*
